I think this will lengthen the usuage of my computer.This is a nice product.I would purchase it again.

No one else could need this product more than anyone who owns Lenovo Y410. I own that laptop for more than 2 years and it wouldn't play a video for more than 1 hour without getting powered off due to excess heat produced by its processor. That is a known issue for that model. Now before I would throw that laptop, I decided to give XPAD a try. And here I am, writing a review. This product rocks. My laptop could now play 3 hours movie without getting restarted! But of course if I multitask, the poor XPAD has to give in and the crappy laptop will get turned off. No fan, no cords and no batteries. Time and again it is proved that common sense and simplicity prevails all. This product is nothing more than a flat surface with some natural rubber like (probably some good conductor of heat) base around its corners, and yet it serves the purpose it is supposed to. Sink heat and keep the laptop and your lap cool.
I would suggest people to buy only this smaller one and not the new model (which is meant for 17 inches) unless you have a 17 inches laptop. Reason- laptops generally radiate heat from the center portion, so even if your laptop is 15 or 16 inches , this one will provide enough density of conductor for its back, as opposed to 17 inches which will be obviously sparse in that region due to laws of proportionality.
I am not giving this one 5 stars, because its a very good product but yet not perfect. i.e. it has its own limitations. The performance of my laptop has improved three folds but has not been totally resolved. But I am happy and recommend this product.

 THE SMELL CAUSES TERRIBLE HEADACHESJul 08, 2010
This product received one star because the smell was unbearable. Even after soaking two nights in soapy water and leaving outside for a couple nights, the sharp rubber smell triggered my migraine headaches. At first I thought it was just me, buy my wife also started to have headaches. I returned the item today, and unfortunately, while packing the product, I caught a wave of the smell and now...I have a headache. The product worked fine and did what it needed to do but the smell was a complete and utter dealbreaker. If you read this and think, "it won't be that bad" or "i can fix it," good luck and don't say no one warned you.

After reading a lot of reviews online about the pad I decided to buy the 17" one for my 17" laptop. The following is my honest opinion: On the right side it seems to keep it at a "cool" level on the "left" side its very warm. At all times, a chill pad should make your laptop feel cool to the touch, never warm. I am going to have to buy one of the fan-based chill pads, which sucks because pad was more expensive than the regular fan-operated chill pads. I was skeptical of this pad but now I see why. I am a bit mad that I trusted these reviews. Again, your laptop should never feel warm to the touch, and clearly never hot. With the fan-operated chill pads, my laptop was cool to sometimes cold. I am typing with the non-fan operated chill pad now, and my palms are very warm (because they are resting on the lower portion). I would never buy this product again and I would beg everyone to rethink spending the $30+ on purchasing it. Its simple made really, if something has a fan on it and its constantly blowing air on it, then it will be cooler--just like air condition to a car. I was attempting to challenge this idea because of the massive amount of positive response that this product has solicited but I see the masses can be wrong sometimes
Bad buy! I will never purchase this again.
